Occupational Therapy Environment

About Me

My name is Christopher Bower, but call me “Chris”. As an Occupational Therapist, I focus on the intersection of the individual and their environment. My practice is centred on providing high-level support for people navigating the most challenging circumstances and complex home environments. I believe that through thoughtful modifications and the right equipment, daily living can be made safer, more accessible, and more meaningful.

My Focus

I have a strong interest in complex home modifications and assistive technology (AT) equipment prescription. Whether dealing with a challenging structural layout or unique functional requirements, I work to find practical, durable solutions that bridge the gap between a person’s abilities and their surroundings.

Professional Background

In 2016, I transitioned from a career in IT and business management to Occupational Therapy. This background allows me to approach equipment and environmental design with a structured, technical, and problem-solving mindset. During my clinical journey, including time spent as a Teacher Aide and Disability Support Worker, I have gained the insight necessary to provide actionable advice to a client's broader support team. I understand that for a modification or piece of equipment to be successful, it must be realistic and sustainable for the people using it every day.

Lived Experience & Partnership

My perspective is also shaped by my personal experience as a parent within the disability community. I understand the logistical and emotional energy required to manage support systems and home changes. I avoid "one size fits all" solutions. Instead, I apply a "Just Right" approach, meeting clients exactly where they are in their journey. By focusing on evidence-based environmental interventions, I help my clients build confidence in their own space, ensuring they can engage in the activities they value most with safety and dignity.
